Those who lived through it know where they were when they first heard the Beatles, when man first stepped on the moon or, sadly, when planes crashed into the World Trade Center. On a more personal level there are life events that are elevated to the same status such as a wedding day or the birth of a child. For pilots, there are several occasions that meet these standards. Every pilot remembers their first solo, earning their private pilot’s license and probably even the tail number of the airplanes those feats were accomplished in (for me it was a Cessna 152 N5493L).

Every pilot would love to spend more time in the cockpit than in front of the computer monitor. Depending on where you live it can become very challenging to log a consistent number of hours during the winter. Here in Chicago we have had several weeks of freezing weather with high winds and snow that have made it difficult to add time to the logbook. Read More >>

For 30+ plus years I have been an aviation enthusiast. I can often be found looking up at the sky for passing planes, going out of my way to drive by local airports and, of course, spending long days in the summer heat enjoying airshows. Since as early as I can remember I wanted to learn to fly but too often had some reason I could not pursue that dream. Four years ago I decided I had waited too long to pursue this life-long dream.
