I too have suffered from this several times. I was a road warrier for a little over 6 years in the healthcare world. While most of my travel was with in the lower 48, once you have stayed in enough Hilton's and Hampton Inn's they all look the same. I think that I was in Omaha when it first happened. You, half alseep wake up to look around, reliaze it's 330am, and you have absolutely NO idea what city your in. It took me about 5 minutes to figure it out, it was the first time to Omaha and the usual picutures on the hotel room walls were not of landmarks I was familiar with. i.e. the arch or the Golden Gate, etc.

I too have had the oh crap - how do I explain this chick to my Girlfriend that's in bed with me, only to realize that is my Girlfriend, either in a hotel room with me, or even at home. Ahh, the joys of travelling. (and for the record, there have been no other women on the road - while in a relationship that is. )

I've been off the road for 4 months now, and honestly, I really miss it. The positive, I've been working on my PPL now (finally) and am flying 3-4 times a week.

Yes, I have experienced same sort of thing, once, as a ship's officer, I just did not know the name of the ship I was on. That rather surprised Port Control. Fortunly on her bridge was a name-tag, affixed for just that.
I must add the ship was one of a series of many.
A-shore I think "what the heck, Terra still hangs on her own weight in Space" ciao, joja*
