Here’s what I was told: According to the catalogue, the Mercury flight suit was part of a personal collection belonging to former NASA Physical Conditioning Supervisor, Joe Garino, Jr. In his signed letter of authenticity, he stated that he was asked to clean out Gus Grissom’s office after his death in the cockpit fire of the command module. Deke Slayton told Garino that he could keep it.
