Dave,

I enjoyed reading your post and I'm envious of the flying trip to Udvar-Hazy. I was planning a similar flight from GSO to IAD at the end of June with my 11 year old son. In spite of my 17 years of safe flying and instrument rating my wife protested mightily about the proposed trip (cost, danger, etc.) and, to keep peace in the family, my son said he didn't want to go in the airplane (70NC - Piper Dakota). I was disappointed but, life goes on and there will be other opportunities to take trips with my son (my wife has little tolerance for my love of aviation). We're flying comercially to IAD instead and will do the "land taxi" visit to Udvar-Hazy. I'm sure I'll enjoy the museum but, I'll regret having missed the opportunity to fly in.
